Archie supports the growth of the TailorPack Group's "

The packaging company SFA Packaging has been using Archie CRM to its full satisfaction for quite some time. When CEO Niels L’Abée was asked to also lead the TailorPack Group holding company, it wasn’t long before sister company Schutte bagclosures implemented Archie’s CRM software as well. “Archie CRM is a key factor in our growth.”

Doing the right things

When Niels L’Abée joined SFA Packaging as director in 2014, the company had a CRM system that was part of its ERP system but wasn’t being used by anyone. It was a thorn in his side. “Our salespeople didn’t know what their colleagues were working on and couldn’t tell if they were doing anything meaningful. Since I was already familiar with Archie from previous workplaces, we decided fairly quickly to implement this CRM software. It was a success practically from day one. From that moment on, salespeople knew if they were working on the right things; appointments were properly recorded. You can definitely say that it facilitated our growth,” says Niels.

Partly due to that growth, the company decided to implement a new integrated ERP system. This system also included modules for CRM and SRM (supplier relationship management). Everything seemed to be going smoothly, but, says Niels, “in practice, it was a huge disappointment. The entire sales department was brought to a standstill. While the software did have the functionalities we needed, it was far too complex and therefore completely unfriendly to use. It missed the mark.”

Less than three months later, Archie CRM was up and running again, much to the relief of the purchasing, sales, and marketing teams. “That’s when I really saw firsthand how important it is to have happy employees. I think half my staff would quit if I took Archie away from them, simply because working with this software makes their jobs a lot more enjoyable,” says Niels. “Archie dictates our daily workflow. It’s the first application people open and the last one they close at the end of their day.”

Increase sales efficiency

When Niels was asked in 2023 to become CEO of the TailorPack Group holding company, he quickly realized that sales efficiency at Schutte Bagclosures could use some improvement. “They were using the CRM module in the ERP system, but there was no standardized workflow. Every account manager had their own way of doing things. That defeats the purpose of a CRM system. The real strength lies in the fact that you can easily take over each other’s work if everyone uses it the same way.”

That’s why he also implemented Archie at Schutte Bagclosures. “We’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and we’re already seeing the first results. People enjoy working with it because Archie makes their jobs easier. That applies to everything, whether you want to create a report or simply add someone’s photo to the customer file. Employees received half a day of training, which is enough to perform all basic tasks. When I see how easy it is, for example, to create a mailing, select target groups, and gain insight into the results. There are packages with more advanced features, but as an SME, we don’t need those.”

Efficient help desk

Niels also praises Archie’s help desk. “When we call with a question, we get an answer right away. If there’s a problem, they immediately get to work on a solution. They’re just a great team of people who do their jobs with a smile. You can really feel the passion all Archie employees have for their work.”

CRM as the foundation for structured marketing and sales

Niels therefore can’t understand why so many companies still operate without a CRM system or rely on the CRM module within an overly complex ERP system. “Sales and marketing form the foundation of every business. If those aren’t in order, the flow of orders will dry up, no matter how good your work is. Without CRM, you can’t properly structure your marketing and sales. Then you don’t know if you’re approaching the right customers, or you won’t get a reminder if you forget to follow up on a specific appointment. Basically, you’re just winging it, and that can never be a good strategy.”
